Jordan Stewart is a senior at William Paterson University majoring in psychology and minoring in philosophy.
What led you to study philosophy?
What led me to study philosophy was the idea of trying to think through some of the world's toughest questions.
What first peaked your interest in philosophy?
What first peaked my interest in philosophy was Socrates and the Greek civilization. I’ve always enjoyed learning of the Ancient Greek civilization so there was a lot of overlap there.
What career path are you planning? I’m planning on being a school psychologist and eventually getting my PhD.
How can WP students apply philosophy to their everyday lives?
WP students can apply philosophy to their everyday lives by using it to critically think through everyday scenarios that can often be tricky.
Is philosophy practical?
Philosophy is practical because it challenges you to not just accept things for the “way they are”. Questioning why things are a certain way is a great skill for everyday life, and can lead to improvements across various aspects.
What is unique about a philosophy degree? What is unique about a philosophy degree is its students learn to think outside the box in a way that may not have been taught under other disciplines
